Welcome to Aber Pool!

Who We Are

Whether you're looking for a club to have fun and banter with, or if you're looking to play competitively (or even both!) – we're definitely the club you'll want to join!

We're a club for players of any ability – everyone and anyone is welcome to join us and have a good time! Training will be available for anyone who wants to improve, or if you simply just want a few casual games as we provide weekly drop-in sessions.

We are a friendly bunch so feel free to drop by for a taster session any time throughout the year!

Competitions

AUPC in recent times has been an extremely successful competitive club, and offers various opportunities for players of different abilities:

The Aberystwyth Pool League, which takes place every Tuesday against pubs from around the town. The league is split into several divisions, providing opportunities to players of all abilities.
Varsity, which is an annual tournament held against Bangor University. Having come tantalisingly close for the last few years, missing out by just one point twice, it would be amazing to secure the win at home this year.

The British Regions Tournament was an exciting addition to the Aber Pool calendar in 2022, and returns in mid-November (Details will be released on our social media pages as they get announced). Last year the BRT Finals Trophy event was won by Wales & the Southwest  - a team consisting of four AUPC members and alumni.

The main event for student pool is BUCS. This is a national team and singles competition held every year against other universities from across the UK. Aber Pool has triumphed twice in the past few years, with the men winning the shield in 2020, and the women winning the championship in 2022.

Finally, Home Internationals is another tournament which has recently returned to the calendar following its previous running before COVID-19. This competition, pitting the UK nations against one another, is of the highest standard in University Pool, and is extremely difficult to qualify for. It is ideal for advanced players who want to test their mettle. AUPC will be represented by 6 members at the 2025 Home Internationals tournament.

All updates regarding competitions will be posted on our Facebook and Instagram pages, so keep your eyes peeled!

Socials

Our socials always start at the Students' Union after the Friday session.

We then visit Irie's bar on Thespian St. and our sponsor, Bar46 before planning the rest of our evening. We can't wait to see you there!
