Freshers. Most students ask:

  • Where do I collect my keys?

If you’re staying in Cwrt Mawr, Rosser or Trefloyne, you can collect your key from Rosser Lounge. If you’re in Fferm Penglais, you can collect it from Y Sgubor building by the Fferm blocks. If you’re in Pentre Jane Morgan, you can collect it in the Pentre Jane Morgan Lounge. Keys for Pantycelyn are collected in Pantycelyn Halls.

The university can only issue keys to you, the resident.

  • How/When do I register?

You’ll be able to register when the task appears on your student record, which you access with your student email and password. Pre-registration is where you choose your modules, which you will receive info about on your email after completing registration.

  • How do I get to campus?

From town, you can either walk up Penglais Hill or take the bus. Buses run about every hour from the bus station next to Wetherspoon. There is also a taxi rank by the train station.

  • Where can I eat/shop?

There is a shop in the Undeb building on campus where you can get food. There is also the food hall or the Arts Centre café. You can shop in CKs which is the corner shop closest to accommodations, but it’s more expensive than shopping in town, where you can go to Lidl, Tesco, M&S and even Morrisons.

If you want to eat out, the food scene in Aber is good. There are plenty of places for breakfast like Y Gornel, Sophie’s, Little Devil, … You can go for tapas in Ultracomida, get Mediterranean cuisine in Medina or Arabic Flavour, or get vegan food at Dragonfly Bistro.

  • How to meet people?

The best way to make friends in Aber is to join a club or a society. You have common interests with fellow members, so that’s a good place to start to connect with people!

You can also do so by attending the Undeb’s meet and greets to find like-minded individuals, or just by showing up to our events.
