The Biggest Contribution from a Charity Society is awarded to a charity affiliated society whose members have freely given a significant amount of their time to their cause throughout the year, as well as raising a significant amount for their charity.

Tickled Pink are our winners again for the second year in a row. Tickled Pink is a CoppaFeel! Aberystwyth Uni Boob Team fundraising and awareness society for the charities CoppaFeel! and Breast Cancer Now. They are an energetic, creative, and passionate group of individuals who are dedicated to helping others. You can read all about their successes last year by reading the article here.

Despite the challenges the group has faced due to COVID, their passion and drive to make a difference to the lives of Aberystwyth students has not been deterred. The committee have been creative, active, and open to adapting, ensuring their core purpose stayed untouched by the obstacles thrown at them. While they were not able to do some of their usual annual activities such as their takeovers and glitter parties, the society still hosted a whole range of activities for their members.

From the get-go the committee quickly adapted their tactics to suit a virtual environment, taking the opportunity to easily connect with other student groups. Their Boob Schools have been popular, with sessions being delivered to over 12 sports clubs and societies, reaching over 80 students. The Tickled Pink committee would attend a virtual activity of another group and give a presentation on the importance of doing checks and how to do the checks. The committee would also be on hand to answer any questions the members may have had.

Their social media has been consistently active, regularly sharing educational material and reminding students to do their checks. They also worked with their affiliated charities to send regular text reminders to students to do their checks. They have also been dedicated to doing a social every week; activities have included scavenger hunts, movies, games nights, and more. This has provided much needed consistency for members, offering them an escape from their studies and home lives to come together in a relaxed and fun environment.

Fundraising has been one of the toughest types of activities for groups to do. The society had to learn new ways of engaging people, especially in a year where money was of concern to many individuals. Nevertheless, the society hosted a range of fundraising activities. The main one being their annual naked calendar, that brings together many of our sports clubs and societies to raise for a worthwhile cause. Tickled Pink also hosted a range of lotteries, raffles, and challenges; all with prizes for individuals to win as they contributed towards supporting charity. The society also took advantage of passive forms of fundraising. They utilised easyfundraising, a website that turns members every day online shopping into free donations.

One of the fundraisers the panel really liked was their Walkathon. They had members recording their walks and runs, totalling 515 miles, covering the distance between Aberystwyth and the two affiliated charities' HQs.

As you can see, the society have truly deserved to keep their title of Biggest Contribution to Charity; they have dedicated a large amount of their time to spreading the good work of their affiliated charities, while also fundraising for them. The SU is excited to see what Tickled Pink get up to next year, and we hope you are too!
