- Overview -
Y Garn is a small mountain in the south of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park. It offers great views of the Mawddach Estuary, Coed y Brenin Forest Park, and the neighbouring mountain ranges.
Some of the route will be off-road, so footwear with ankle support is essential.
If we’re lucky, we may find bilberries (wild blueberries), so bring a container for foraging!
- Details -
We will take the bus from Aberystwyth to Ganllwyd. We’ll then walk west through some forestry, towards the base of the mountain. From there, we’ll break into two smaller groups, with a choice between a steeper route and a gentler route. We’ll reconvene near the summit, and descend down the south face, back into forestry. We’ll then arrive in Llanelltyd village for the bus back. The route is approximately 10km with 623m of ascent. There are public toilets at the start.
