Who Are We?

We are a society for all those who love the Harry Potter books and/or films. Whether you're pro or anti Snape, prefer the books or films, it doesn't matter as long as you love the Wizarding World! Be sure to keep an eye on our social medias (links below) and this page to stay up to date with all our magical shenanigans. If you do decide to join our society pick just get our free membership but also make sure you also add the Aber Insurance (very important!).You can find all of our core documents below including our code of conduct make sure to give these a read, espeically if you're interested in joining us on our socials.

Socials

Themed pub crawls every Tuesday night starting at 7-10pm and a variety of sober socials ever other Thurdays in the SU Picturehouse starting at 8pm including to film screenings and game nights! Members are free to attend as many or as little socials as they like and are not required to participate in the themes if they don't wish. Our socials and the themes are annouced on our social medias, check the events section of our page or feel free to email to see what we have going on!

We, the Aberystwyth Potterheads are dedicated to the inclusion and acceptance of all members regardless of age, race, ethnicity, ability, culture or nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, religious affiliation, socioeconomic status and marital status. 

Additionally, we would like to make it clear that we do not agree or endorse the views held by J.K. Rowling. We encourage all our members to purchase unoffical merchandise and we use our rag week to raise money for Stonewall as they do excellent work for all members of the LGBTQ+ community.

President

Hi everyone! I’m Anna, I’m a third year history student and the founder and president of the Aberystwyth Potterheads for the 23/24 year. I’m a Hufflepuff, my favourite character is Luna Lovegood but also have a soft spot for the Weasley twins. Other than Harry Potter my interests are creative writing, reading and binge watching shows! I loved how our first year went but am so excited to see how we grow over our second year! And just as Dumbledore once said; just because it’s happening in your head doesn’t mean it’s not real.

Vice-President and Wellbeing & Inclusivity Officer

Hiya fellow witches and wizards! (Werewolves and squibs too!) my name is Leah and I’m vice-president and well-being and inclusive secretary of this magical group I am a zoology student and a hufflepuff. My favourite book character is Ginny Weasley and film is Luna Lovegood, in my spare time I’m either working, sleeping or socialising. Remember to always turn on the light in the darkest times.

Social Secretary

Hi! I'm Abby. I'm a third year History student. I'm Social Secretary of the Aberystwyth Potterheads for the upcoming year of 23/24. I am a Ravenclaw. My favourite character is Severus Snape with Minerva McGonagall being close behind. I also enjoy reading, watching the sunset, photography, watching films/TV shows and more. I really enjoyed our first year as a society and I am looking forward to seeing what is to come and meeting any new members! Remember: Don't let the muggles get you down.

Treasurer

Hi, I’m Helen, a second year English Literature and Creative Writing student, and I will be the treasurer for the 23/24 academic year. I’m a Ravenclaw, and my favourite Harry Potter character is probably book Ginny (or Lee Jordan or Oliver Wood). Outside of my degree, I’m also interested in history, hockey, and scouting. I’m very excited to be part of committee this year, and I’m looking forward to meeting more Harry Potter enthusiasts! Anything is possible if you've got enough nerve.
