Who we are
We are Dancesport, a student taught Ballroom and Latin dance club, like a big dance family welcoming dancers from all levels. We pride ourselves on our friendly, relaxed atmosphere, and a strong sense of family.
Whether you are wanting to try something new, build your existing dance skills, interested in ballroom and Latin dancing or want to compete on the dance floor (or all the above!!) then you should definitely come and join our club because we would love to have you!
What is Ballroom/ Latin Dancing? What do we do?
Ballroom and Latin are two different styles of dance. Ballroom dance refers to the waltz, foxtrot, tango, quickstep, and Viennese waltz. Latin dance on the other hand includes the cha-cha, samba, jive, paso doble, and rumba. Our main emphasis is on Waltz, Quickstep, Cha-cha, and Jive. However, we also cover other dances listed above so you have a full experience of what each dance is like and the difference between each dance.
Competitions/ Workshops
We participate in up to 4 competitions a year including Warwick, Manchester winter/ spring, and Blackpool (the home of ballroom dance!). We encourage our members to take part in competitions as competing on the dance floor gives you an unforgettable experience and dancing in grand ballrooms.
We also have a number of dance events and professionally taught workshops in between! Giving you the full dance experience!

FAQs
Q: Do I need a dance partner?
No partner is required as you will have the opportunity to dance with everyone.
Q: I have never Danced before; can I still join?
Definitely! Many of our members had no previous experience and can now whizz around the dance floor.
Q: What should I wear for dance sessions?
Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely. Dance shoes are not required at the beginning, so just wear socks.
Q: Do I need any equipment for sessions?
If you have Ballroom or Latin shoes, please bring them. If you don’t have dance shoes, it’s completely fine. No equipment is required.
Q: Do I have to attend every session?
Absolutely not! Sometimes our sessions will only be aimed at intermediate/ advanced learners. We will recap on new moves each session so missing a few sessions is completely fine ( although we encourage members to attend as many of our sessions as possible :) )

The club does not own any equipment currently.
