We are a student run zine based in Aber SU!
// We look to publish collections of students creative works including short prose, poetry, photography and art.
// We aim to do this once a semester :)

Our aims:
- We are a student-led, creative publication featuring prose, poetry, artwork and photography.
- We aim to produce an issue every semester (more is a possibility depending on availability).
- Before we begin accepting submissions, we will announce a THEME (previous themes included: 'Beginnings'), this theme acts to inspire your creations as well as create a flowing, consistent publication.
- We want to provide students with the chance to publish their work as well as develop their portfolios!
Activities:
- Throughout the year we will host various socials including:
- Creative workshops (zine making, painting, poetry writing etc...)
- Launch parties for each issue
- Speakers and talks by professionals to expand your experience and knowledge
- Alongside smaller events such as: boardgames, coffee socials, walks and bonfires
Membership perks:
- When you buy membership, you not only unlock the ability to submit to the zine, you also get:
- A free copy of the zines we release that year
- Access to our book release events and socials
- Access to our workshops and talks
- Merchandise including: stickers, badges, postcards, prints and tote bags
- Finally, the chance to have your work displayed throughout Aberystwyth!!!
(committee members)

The basics:
- To submit your work to the zine, you have to purchase the membership.
- Once we announce our theme for that semester, we will post up our submission link.
- We will then be accepting links for up to a MONTH after the theme announcement (e.g the theme is announced at the beginning of October and submissions will be collected at the beginning of November).
- Once all submissions are in we go into our Editing Phase...
The Editing Phase:
- We have two teams that work on the production of the zine: the Editors and the Designers.
- The Editors filter through all of the written submissions; Their jobs include:
- Eligibility (meeting the theme)
- Proofreading
- Spell-checking, grammar and puntuation
- Formatting (correct fonts, line-spacing, length etc...)
- Checking for offensive subject matter (and possible inclusions of trigger warnings)
- Finally, flagging the use of Ai (as a society we do not use Ai and do not accept pieces that include it).
- The Designers work on the overall visual of the zine itself; Their jobs include:
- The front cover
- Internal details
- Supplementary pieces: when we receive written pieces, our designers will work together to illustrate small art pieces to accompany the writing
- We have multiple artists with different styles on board, our artists work together to evenly distribute and include their styles throughout the zines
- Our designers will never use Ai , everything is handmade and designed by real people.
[If you submit a piece made with Generative Ai it will not be included in the zine and you will be banned from any further submissions.]
[As a creative society we do not agree with or accept the use of Generative Ai]
