Opportunities Events Update
Aber Challenge & Superteams
AberSU are extremely disappointed to announce that due to the current situation and uncertainty of future restrictions we have had to cancel our two second semester student favourites, ‘Aber Challenge’ and ‘Superteams’. Before Christmas, our Opportunities team spent a great deal of time coming up with alternative activities for these two events, that would adhere to restrictions and could be delivered safely in the current climate. As a result we were hopeful that we would be able to run these events (albeit differently to previous years) as we know how much Aber students enjoy and look forward to them.
Aber7s
For similar reasons we are also postponing our annual Rugby 7s event ‘Aber7s’ usually held on the first weekend of May, with the hope of being able to run an event later in the summer dependant on future restrictions. For those teams who choose to roll over their Aber7s 2020 entry fee to this year’s event, we will be refunding this fee. In this case, please let us know if your card details have changed since you paid your entry, to ensure you receive the refund.
Further updates for a potential summer Aber7s 2021 will be announced soon.
Varsity & SocsFest
In conjunction with Bangor SU, we are exploring options for a virtual ‘Varsity’ and ‘SocsFest’, with the potential for some in-person fixtures and activities in Semester 3 if restrictions allow (and not as planned originally on 17th April).
Updates for these events will be announced to all clubs and societies involved in the coming weeks.
AberSU Super Challenge
As a result of these cancellations and postponements, our Opportunities Team will be announcing later this week a new series of safe and exciting events for students (whether they are at home or in Aber) to take part in over this semester. Keep an eye out for emails and social media channels over the next few days to find out more!
