Hi everyone, my name is Elizabeth and I am your Academic Affairs Officer. Here are some things I wish I knew before arriving in Aberystwyth:
1. The weather’s quite mild all year round, even in winter, so you don’t need a scarf or any typical winter/snow clothes… but you will definitely need a raincoat…and it does get very windy the closer to the sea you get…
2. You can’t walk 10 minutes without reaching a hill…however, saying that, everywhere is in walking distance. It’s about 15 minutes maximum across the whole of town; you’re never far from anywhere
3. The going rate for taxis to go up to accommodation is about £5
4. If you have a car, that provides a great opportunity for road trips round here to all the cute surrounding towns/beaches…however, parking in Aber isn’t exactly at the top of the list of easiest things to do…
5. Just because there’s only 1 nightclub, it doesn’t mean you can’t have the best time…a good night out is about the people you’re with
6. By the end of the year you will have bought more phone storage just for the photo album called ‘sunsets’ you will have made
